It isn't easy to deal with sensitive skin. Any product, season, or skincare routine may cause issues. Also, skin care products can make it more likely to get allergic conditions like eczema, freckles, acne, and many more. When it comes to caring for sensitive skin, it can be hard to know what suits best for the skin and what can make the condition worse. Even one has to think like a thousand times before trying a new product. In such cases, Dr. Nivedita Dadu, the Best Dermatologist in Delhi, discusses how a customized skincare routine can help one take care of sensitive skin more competently. She is here with sensitive skin 101: dos and don'ts to help one learn about their skin and give it the care it needs.

  • New Products
    • DO: It is important to test new products to check which suits one's skin perfectly. For this, one must keep track of the products, their ingredients, and their effect on the skin. However, before buying, one must do a patch test of the product to make sure it doesn't have any allergic reaction.
    • DON'T: Do not pick any products without checking the ingredients or doing a patch test. Always go for natural products, and don't pick chemical products.
  • Skin Hydration
    • DO: It is important to keep sensitive skin hydrated. One can use rich moisturizers with ingredients like witch hazel, jojoba oil, azelaic acid, polyhydroxy acids, etc. One can also look for ingredients like aloe, chamomile, evening primrose, rose, and argan oil that come from plants and are full of good things for your skin.
    • DON'T: While looking for serums and moisturizers for sensitive skin, avoid ingredients like ret-inol, salicylic acid, coconut oil, and hyaluronic acid.
  • Sun Protection
    • DO: Always wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection.
    • DON'T: Allow uncovered skin to be exposed to excessive sunlight. This can cause irritation in the skin, which is especially problematic for persons who have rosacea.
  • Pimples
    • DO: Apply pimple patches and use anti-acne serums with niacinamide, witch hazel, and azelaic acid in them.
    • DON'T: Do not pop pimples. It is also advised not to use vitamin C or Salicylic Acid serums in acne treatment for sensitive skin.
  • Diagnosis of the condition
    • DO: In order to diagnose one's sensitive skin, it is advised to visit a skin expert like Dr. Nivedita Dadu at Dadu Medical Centre. She helps the person identify their skin and suggests the best-suited products.
    • DON'T: One must not try to diagnose their skin on their own. By doing this, they may end up damaging their skin even more.

We hope this blog has made the concept of skin care for sensitive skin much clearer for readers.
